Musically and vocally this track has become my new favorite and we're enthusiastically looking forward to sharing it with all of our listening friends.
Rather than just writing our usual kind of blog, I decided to also share a small bit of an email Drew had written to me as I love the description of ‘Crimson Haze’ he gave…
“I tried to use a repetition suggested by the lyric so it reads almost like a chant. it reminds me of Tibetan chants, phrased and structured to be insistent, like it is meant to chant something into existence, to 'make it so' as Captain Picard says lol. In Native American it would be a rain dance. Fantastic wordage, somewhat shamanic I would say. The chorus changes from an urgent plea to a narrative, and as a reader or listener that narrative is timeless, like it could have happened yesterday or many centuries into the past, like a legend or scripture, a story passed down the generations. I've seen this change done before in lyrics and it works really awesome, I love it.”
For me, Crimson Haze is part of a progression of experiences, thoughts and emotions on my part, an evolution of sorts…a journey to become a “Glossed Soul”.
